Day 14 of 30

He Knows Your Name

From the Peace in Chaos devotional series

"Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine."

— Isaiah 43:1

Reflection

Picture, for a moment, every single space today where your name was reduced to something administrative — a username, a ticket number, a customer ID, an autofill at the top of a form. Now picture the few places it was spoken aloud, with attention, by someone who actually meant you. Most of us can count those on one hand. Isaiah says God does the second thing. Not the username version. The other one. The one where the speaker pauses before they say it. Read your own name aloud right now, slowly, the way someone who loves you would. That is closer to how it sounds in the verse than anything else you will hear today.

Prayer

Speak your own name aloud, then say only: "Yours." That is the prayer. Sit for a minute afterward.

Peace Challenge

Write a short letter — three or four sentences — addressed to yourself by name, written as if from God. Begin with "Dear [your name]," and let it say only what you most need to hear today. Fold it. Put it in a place you will find again on a hard day. Do not show it to anyone.
