Prayer for Healing

Asking God for restoration of body, mind, and spirit.

A complete prayer for healing

This prayer follows the biblical 6-phase pattern. Pray it word-for-word as written, adapt it to your situation, or use it as a model for writing your own.

Heavenly Father, I come before Your throne of grace with reverence and faith.

Thanksgiving

Thank You, Lord, for being Jehovah Rapha — the God who heals. Thank You for every breath and every moment of strength You provide.

Declaration

"He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds." (Psalm 147:3)

Petitions

Lord, I ask for healing — in my body, in my mind, and in my spirit. Touch the areas that need restoration and make me whole again.

Praying for Others

I pray for everyone who is battling illness or pain right now. Lay Your healing hand upon them and strengthen them.

Lord, give me a praying spirit — not just a praying mouth, but a spirit that walks in constant communion with You. Consecrate me. Search my heart. I receive everything You have for me. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.

Why this structure fits a prayer for healing

This prayer leads with Thanksgiving on purpose: when the body or heart hurts, thanking God first is not denial — it is the act of remembering that the One being asked has been good before. The Petitions phase then asks boldly, the way James 5 instructs the church to pray over the sick, and the Waiting that follows makes room for the part of healing no one can rush.
