Prayer for Work

Inviting God into your career, decisions, and workplace.

A complete prayer for work

This prayer follows the biblical 6-phase pattern. Pray it word-for-word as written, adapt it to your situation, or use it as a model for writing your own.

God, I bring my day to You.

Thanksgiving

Thank You, Lord, for the ability to work and serve. Thank You for the skills, opportunities, and purpose You have placed in my life.

Declaration

"Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established." (Proverbs 16:3)

Petitions

Lord, I ask for favor in my workplace, wisdom in my decisions, and strength to honor You in everything I do. Guide my career path.

Praying for Others

I lift up my coworkers, my boss, and everyone I work with — bless them, give them peace, and let Your light shine through our work.

God, thank You for this time of prayer. Help me carry one thoughtful intention into the rest of my day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Why this structure fits a prayer for work

Work prayer lives in the Petitions phase — concrete asks about projects, people, and decisions, made with confidence rather than vague hope — and in the closing intercession, which is where a difficult boss or colleague belongs (praying for them is Scripture's most reliable solvent for workplace resentment). The Declaration phase reframes the work itself: done "heartily, as to the Lord," the same tasks carry different weight.

Make this prayer your own

Deadlines and decisions are specific — bring them into the prayer generator and it will structure them into a complete prayer using this pattern.
