Prayer for Anxiety

Releasing worry and finding peace in God's presence.

A complete prayer for anxiety

This prayer follows the biblical 6-phase pattern. Pray it word-for-word as written, adapt it to your situation, or use it as a model for writing your own.

Heavenly Father, I come before Your throne of grace with reverence and faith.

Thanksgiving

Thank You, Lord, for being my peace in the midst of every storm. Thank You that I do not have to carry this weight alone.

Declaration

"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7)

Petitions

Lord, I ask You to calm my mind and still my anxious thoughts. Replace my worry with Your peace that surpasses all understanding.

Praying for Others

I lift up everyone who is struggling with anxiety right now — give them rest, give them peace, and remind them that You are in control.

Lord, give me a praying spirit — not just a praying mouth, but a spirit that walks in constant communion with You. Consecrate me. Search my heart. I receive everything You have for me. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.

Why this structure fits a prayer for anxiety

When the mind is racing, the Declaration phase is the hinge of this prayer: anxiety argues from imagined futures, and speaking God's actual words back to Him ("Fear thou not; for I am with thee") gives a spiraling mind something solid to hold instead. Opening with Thanksgiving matters here too — gratitude and panic struggle to occupy the same thought at the same moment — and closing by praying for others gently moves attention off the worry loop entirely.

Make this prayer your own

If the worry you're carrying is too specific for a pre-written prayer, the prayer generator will weave your exact situation into this same structure, phase by phase.

The Waiting on God phase is worth extra time when anxiety is the battle.
