Phase 4 of 6

Waiting on God

Be still and know

Understanding this phase

He always wants meditation and quietness. Prayer is not a monologue — there is a place of stillness where your spirit communicates with His Spirit. Be still and know that He is God.

When you start praying in the Spirit, you are communicating to God Spirit to Spirit, rather than spending all night telling God — who knows everything — what you think. The biggest benefit of praying with understanding is that you get to vent, so God can replace all of that scarred, damaged tissue in your head with His own Divine Purpose.

Scripture foundation

"Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth."

— Psalm 46:10

"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

— Isaiah 40:31

"The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord."

— Lamentations 3:25-26

Example prayer

Lord, I quiet my mind before You now. I release every anxious thought, every racing worry, every plan I'm trying to control. I am still. I am listening. Speak to my spirit, Lord — not to my mind, not to my flesh, but to the deepest part of me. I wait on You. Renew my strength. Replace my confusion with Your clarity. I trust You in the silence.
